Poor government-donor coordination in Nepal - A matter to be concerned about

Due to heavy dependence on the external development partners for harm reduction, the sustainability of funding the implementation of these programmes in nepal is unclear, uncertain and unpredictable. Since 15 July 2011, the HIV response in Nepal has been under threat due to a shortage of these resources, leading to serious concerns regarding the escalating public health crisis in the country.

Italian and US governments sign new agreement on drug policy matters

A special agreement between the Italian Government’s Drug Policy Department and the US ONDCP was signed to foster cooperation between the two countries. This is likely to give more importance to the Italian experience on drug policy, which remains conservative with regards to harm reduction.

New Zealand bans synthetic cannabis products

The ban will initially run for 12 months. Next year New Zealand's conservative government plans to bring in comprehensive changes based on a review of the country's drug legislation by the Law Commission.
