APCOM joins IDPC to strengthen regional advocacy for harm reduction, HIV prevention, and rights-based drug policies for MSM engaging in chemsex across Asia and the Pacific.

1 April 2026

APCOM announces its membership in the International Drug Policy Consortium (IDPC), a global network of civil society organisations advocating for drug policies grounded in human rights, public health, and social justice. IDPC works collaboratively across regions to promote evidence-based reforms, amplify community voices, and support national and regional movements advancing humane, inclusive, and effective drug policies.

Across Asia and the Pacific, punitive drug laws, criminalisation, and stigma continue to push people who use drugs, including MSM engaging in chemsex, away from essential HIV prevention, treatment, and harm reduction services. These legal and social barriers create an environment where chemsexrelated risks are heightened. Addressing legal and policy reforms is especially timely in the Region as countries prepare for the rollout of injectable PrEP that can significantly benefit MSM who engage in chemsex.
