Pathways to moratorium on the use of the death penalty: effective and good practices from member states

The objective of the event is to show-case Member States' most recent good practices and supporting processes at different levels towards moratorium on the use of the death penalty with a view to abolishing it.

It will consist of:

• Showing cases on concrete recent experiences of Countries that have abolished the death penalty in practice or by law, signed or ratified international instruments on the death penalty and applied moratorium.

• Sharing the experience of States in their efforts to move away from death penalty and promote respect for human rights and the rule of law.

• Identifying good practices to support and assist Member States in their efforts to apply moratorium with a view to abolishing death penalty.
