The death penalty for drug offences: Between abolition and populism

At least 35 countries still retain the death penalty for drugs laws in law, a practice that violates international human rights standard. Despite a decline in executions for drug offences globally, some countries are pushing for expand or reimplement use of the death penalty for these offences.This event will launch Harm Reduction International's latest report on this issue and discuss how abolishing the death penalty for drug offemnces could serve as an entry point for broader abolition efforts.
