The impact of the world drug problem on human right
The General Assembly decided in Resolution A/Res/67/193 to convene a Special Session on the world drug problem in 2016. The UNGASS 2016 will assess achievements and challenges of the international community in responding to the world drug problem. Human rights are key when addressing this issue and assessing current policies.
To contribute to this debate, the governments of Switzerland, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico and the Global Commission on Drug Policy will join in for a side event during the 26th session of the Human Rights Council. The event will feature high-level speakers to explore ways to address the impact of the current world drug problem on human rights and ensure that a human rights perspective is part of the overall discussion leading to the UNGASS 2016.
